Overview

The Meta Quest 3 Carrying Case is Meta's official travel case for the Meta Quest 3. It launched on October 10, 2023 at $69.99, the same day as the headset, and Meta still sells it at $69.99. It holds the headset, both controllers and the charger in one zipped, rounded shell.

Design and capacity

The case has a light grey outer shell, a carry loop and a custom-fit inner shell with slots for the headset and controllers. There is an extra compartment for the charging cable and power adapter. Besides the headset, Meta says it fits one head strap (the standard strap or an Elite Strap), two Touch Plus controllers with lanyards or Active Straps, one charging cable and one power adapter. The box includes the case, a quick start guide and a safety and warranty guide. Meta does not publish the case's weight or dimensions.

Compatibility

Meta's help center says this case is only compatible with Meta Quest 3, the Elite Strap and the Elite Strap with Battery, and that it also takes controllers fitted with Active Straps. The store page lists only Quest 3. Owners of the Meta Quest 3S should look at Meta's newer Carrying Case for Meta Quest 3/3S, also $69.99, or the $49.99 Compact Carrying Case, which does not take Elite Straps. The case is not listed for the Meta Quest 2 or Meta Quest Pro, which had their own cases.

Use

Place the headset in the main cavity and each controller in its matching slot. Meta warns that the controllers must go in the correct slot and the right way round, otherwise they press on the zip. If you use rechargeable controller batteries, Meta also advises carrying the controllers in a case so knocks do not loosen the batteries.

Who it is for

The case suits Quest 3 owners who travel or move their headset between rooms and want everything in one shell, including an Elite Strap. Quest 3S owners should pick the 3/3S version instead, since Meta only lists Quest 3 for this one. People who want the smallest bag and keep the standard strap may prefer the Compact Carrying Case.
