Compact Carrying Case for Meta Quest 3/3S

Overview

The Compact Carrying Case for Meta Quest 3/3S is Meta's smallest travel case for the Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S. It costs $49.99, $20 less than the full-size Carrying Case for Meta Quest 3/3S. Meta took pre-orders for it with Quest 3S on September 25, 2024, and it shipped with the headset on October 15, 2024. It is meant to fit in a backpack or carry-on bag.

Design and specs

Meta's spec sheet lists 263 x 223 x 115 mm and 456 g, against 328 x 242 x 128 mm and 670 g for the full-size case. The shell is recycled felt in Light Gray with a Slate Black interior. Meta lists TPU, ABS polycarbonate, polyester, spandex and microfiber as the other materials. Inside there are contoured plastic compartments and a built-in mesh pouch. The case closes with a snag-free zip and has a carry strap. The box contains the case and a safety and warranty guide. Meta says to clean it by wiping it gently with a damp, clean cloth.

Compatibility

Meta lists Quest 3 and Quest 3S. Besides the headset, the case fits one soft Quest head strap, two Touch Plus controllers with lanyards or Active Straps, one charging cable and one power adapter. It does not fit the Elite Strap or the Elite Strap with Battery; Meta points owners of those straps to the full-size case. Headsets fitted with Meta's facial interfaces, such as the Quest 3S Breathable Facial Interface and the Quest 3 Open Facial Interface, still fit. Meta says the case does not fit the Meta Quest 2, the Meta Quest Pro or Touch Pro controllers.

Compact or full-size

Both cases hold the same headset, controllers, cable and power adapter. The main difference is the strap: the full-size case takes Elite Straps, while the compact case only takes soft straps such as the one that comes with Quest 3 and Quest 3S. In exchange the compact case is about 214 g lighter and smaller in every direction. Meta also sells the older Meta Quest 3 Carrying Case, which is listed only for Quest 3.

Who it is for

The compact case suits Quest 3 and Quest 3S owners who keep the standard soft strap and want the smallest, lightest official case for flights, commutes or school bags. Anyone using an Elite Strap or Elite Strap with Battery, or planning to buy one, should choose the full-size case instead.
