Meta Quest 3 Facial Interface & Head Strap

Overview

The Meta Quest 3 Facial Interface & Head Strap is an official set for the Meta Quest 3 that pairs a fabric facial interface with a matching soft head strap. Meta sells it in two colours, Elemental Blue and Blood Orange, on one store page at $49.99 for either colour. Meta announced it with Quest 3 on September 27, 2023 and it went on sale with the headset on October 10, 2023.

Design and specs

Meta says the set uses the same facial interface and strap design and materials as the parts that come with Quest 3. Only the colour changes. The facial interface keeps the glasses spacing adjustment of the standard one, so you can still make room for glasses. The soft strap has an adjustable fit and a flexible top strap that Meta says spreads the weight and keeps the lenses in place over your eyes. Together the two parts weigh 121 g: 65 g for the facial interface and 56 g for the strap. Meta lists dimensions of 234 x 193 x 173 mm and fabric as the material. The box contains the fabric facial interface, the soft head strap and a safety and warranty guide.

Compatibility

Meta lists only Quest 3. The set is not listed for the Meta Quest 3S, which has a different facial interface. Meta says the coloured facial interface works with the Elite Strap and the Elite Strap with Battery, but the coloured soft strap cannot be combined with an Elite Strap; if you use an Elite Strap, only the facial interface part of the set gets used. A headset fitted with this set still fits in the Meta Quest 3 Carrying Case, the Carrying Case for Meta Quest 3/3S, the Compact Carrying Case for Meta Quest 3/3S and the Quest 3 Charging Dock.

Setup and use

Both parts swap in for the standard facial interface and strap that come with Quest 3. Since Meta says they share the same design and materials, they fit and adjust the same way as the stock parts. Meta does not give care instructions for the set on its store page, and it does not say whether the coloured fabric blocks light any differently from the original.

Who it is for

The set is for Quest 3 owners who want to personalise the headset with a bold colour, or who need a spare facial interface and strap, for example to keep a second set for another family member. It does not add comfort features over the stock parts, so people who want better weight balance should look at the Elite Strap, and those who sweat a lot may prefer the Meta Quest 3 Silicone Facial Interface.
