VR Cover Facial Interface & Foam Replacement Set for Meta Quest 2
by VR Cover
A replacement facial interface frame with two wipeable PU leather memory foam pads, standard and comfort, for Meta Quest 2. Sold on the Meta store for $29.
Overview
The VR Cover Facial Interface & Foam Replacement Set replaces the stock facial interface and foam of the Meta Quest 2. It is made by VR Cover, a company that has made covers and facial interfaces for VR headsets since the Oculus Rift DK2 era. The Meta store sells the set for $29. It aims to make the headset more hygienic and more comfortable, and to cut down on lens fogging.
Design and specs
The set has three parts: one facial interface frame, one standard PU leather foam replacement and one comfort PU leather foam replacement. Both foams are memory foam covered in PU leather, so you can wipe them clean instead of washing fabric. The comfort foam is the one to use if you wear glasses, because it leaves more space between your glasses and the headset lenses. The frame has airflow channels that Meta's listing says help prevent fogging, plus a removable nose guard, although the nose guard is not named separately in the list of what is included. Materials are PC-ABS for the frame, plus Velcro, memory foam and PU leather. Meta lists dimensions of 163 x 105 x 110 mm and a weight of 220 g including packaging.
Compatibility
Meta lists the set for the Quest 2 only. It does not fit the Meta Quest 3 or Meta Quest 3S, which use a different facial interface. The listing warns that this interface frame is not compatible with the glasses spacer, so glasses wearers should rely on the comfort foam for extra room instead.
Setup and use
The VR Cover frame takes the place of the Quest 2's stock facial interface, and the foams are separate pieces that go on the frame. Velcro is listed among the materials, and you can switch between the standard and comfort foams depending on whether you wear glasses. To clean them, you wipe the PU leather surface. With two foams in the box, you can keep one clean while you use the other, or let different players use their own. Meta's page gives no step-by-step fitting instructions.
Who it is for
The set suits Quest 2 owners who play active or fitness games and find the stock foam gets sweaty, and households or arcades where several people share one headset. Wipeable PU leather is easier to keep clean than the original foam. Glasses wearers get the comfort foam as a way to make more room, but they cannot add the glasses spacer as well.
