Overview

The Meta Quest 3S Breathable Facial Interface is Meta's official replacement facial interface for the Meta Quest 3S. It costs $39.99. Meta announced it with Quest 3S on September 25, 2024 as a Quest 3S-only accessory, and it shipped with the headset on October 15, 2024. Meta pitches it at active VR sessions, such as workouts and motion-heavy games, where keeping cool matters more.

Design and specs

The interface uses a flexible plastic frame wrapped in a perforated performance fabric, with a silicone facial pad where it touches your face. Meta says the flexible frame spreads the headset's weight more evenly and adapts to the shape of your face, and the fabric lets air flow to carry heat away. The fabric is opaque, so the view stays dark. It measures 166 x 106 x 104 mm and weighs 62 g, against 60 g for the facial interface that comes with Quest 3S. The colour is Light Gray. The box contains the facial interface and a safety and warranty guide.

Compatibility

Meta lists only Quest 3S. Its FAQ says the interface does not work with the Meta Quest 3; Quest 3 owners can look at the Meta Quest 3 Open Facial Interface or the Meta Quest 3 Silicone Facial Interface instead. A headset fitted with the Breathable Facial Interface still fits in the Carrying Case for Meta Quest 3/3S and the Compact Carrying Case for Meta Quest 3/3S.

Use and care

The interface replaces the standard one on the front of the headset. Meta notes that it is not fully light blocking: in very bright rooms you may see light coming through, and for the most immersive view Meta recommends the facial interface that comes with Quest 3S. The silicone pad can be wiped down after a session, and Meta says the whole facial interface can be washed for a deeper clean.

Who it is for

It suits Quest 3S owners who use fitness apps, rhythm games or other active titles and get hot or sweaty in the standard interface, and people who share a headset and want a pad they can wipe between users. Players who mostly watch video or play in a bright room may prefer to keep the standard interface, which blocks more light.
