Razer Hammerhead HyperSpeed Earbuds for Meta Quest

Overview

The Razer Hammerhead HyperSpeed for Meta Quest is a pair of true wireless gaming earbuds built under Meta's "Made for Meta" program. Razer sells it at $149.99, and it went on sale in the US and Canada in December 2023, after Razer first showed it alongside the Meta Quest 3. Meta lists it for the Quest 3S, Quest 3 and Meta Quest 2. The charging case carries a "Made for Meta" badge.

Design and specs

Each earbud has a 10 mm driver with a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response, 16 ohm impedance and 91 dB sensitivity. Active noise cancellation blocks steady background noise such as a PC fan. The earbuds have RGB lighting on the back. Razer lists the weight as 53 g for the earbuds and charging case together.

Battery life depends on the lighting and ANC settings. With both off, Razer quotes up to 6.5 hours on the earbuds and 26 more hours from the case, for 32.5 hours in total. With lighting and ANC both on, that drops to 4 hours on the earbuds and 20 hours in total. Meta's store rounds this to "up to 30 hours" with the case.

Compatibility

The earbuds connect in two ways. The included Razer HyperSpeed USB-C dongle gives a 2.4 GHz link for low-latency game audio, and Bluetooth 5.2 covers phones and other devices. Meta names the Meta Quest 3S, Quest 3 and Quest 2. Razer's own spec sheet lists Quest 2, Quest 3, PC, Mac and phones, tablets and handhelds with Bluetooth audio or a USB-C or USB-A port.

Setup and use

On a Quest headset you plug the USB-C dongle into the headset and take the earbuds out of the case. The box includes the two earbuds, three pairs of silicone ear tips in small, medium and large, the charging case, the HyperSpeed dongle and a USB-A to USB-C charging cable. The dongle also works with a PC, which helps if you play PC VR through a Quest and want the same earbuds at your desk.

Who it is for

These earbuds suit Quest owners who want private, low-latency audio with noise cancellation, for example in a shared room. They are more expensive than most VR earbuds, and battery life is short with ANC and lighting on. On October 31, 2026 the meta.com page showed "Notify me" instead of a buy button, while Razer's US store still sold them at $149.99.
