Pioneer: Endless Journey is a free FPS roguelite for Meta Quest set on a floating sky island, where you build custom pistols from weapon parts.
Pioneer: Endless Journey is a free first-person shooter and roguelite action game from bHaptics Inc., set on an island floating in the sky. It came out on the Meta Horizon Store on March 16, 2022.
How it plays
Your main weapon is a pistol that you build yourself. As you play, you pick up weapon parts and combine them into many different setups. Some parts boost each other in explosive ways, while others work against each other, so finding a strong build takes experimenting.
Besides shooting, you can throw orbs that carry special skills, use helpful machines scattered around the island and rely on quick movement to dodge incoming attacks.
Every attempt generates a new map, and your choices along the way shape what comes next. Because the islands and your weapon build change from run to run, the developer says no single strategy will carry you every time. You keep retrying, defeating monsters and bosses and getting stronger with each attempt.
It is a single-player game, built for short repeated runs rather than a fixed campaign.
Comfort
Meta rates Pioneer: Endless Journey comfortable for most people. It supports standing and room-scale play, using motion controllers. Dodging attacks means moving around a lot, so make sure your play space is clear.
