Guardians Frontline is a sci-fi VR shooter with real-time strategy on Meta Quest: fight, build bases and drop mechs in solo, co-op or PvP battles.
Guardians Frontline is a sci-fi shooter and action game from VirtualAge, published by Fast Travel Games, that makes you both a soldier and a commander. It launched on the Meta Horizon Store on March 9, 2023.
How it plays
The game mixes first-person combat with real-time strategy. While you fight with a large range of weapons, you also build structures and units, and you can drop big mechs right into the middle of a battle. As a Guardian of the federation you get tools such as a Gravity Gun that slams enemies into cliffs, and you can take control of mechs and spaceships to attack from the ground and from the air.
A single-player campaign covers the story of defending the federation. On top of that, an in-game level editor lets anyone build maps and share them publicly, so there is a steady supply of community-made content. On Meta Quest 3, the developer lists upgraded visuals with environmental effects, reflections, better shaders and real-time shadows.
Multiplayer
The campaign can be played in co-op with up to four players. For competitive play, PvP matches hold up to eight players, and the game supports full cross-play in every mode.
Comfort
Meta gives Guardians Frontline a moderate comfort rating, so it is comfortable for some people. It supports sitting, standing and room-scale play, using motion controllers.
