David Slade Mysteries: Case Files is a VR detective game where you use forensic tools to solve violent murder cases across two episodes.
David Slade Mysteries: Case Files is a detective adventure game from Gear Worx Productions, inspired by the classic Police Quest series and rebuilt for VR. You work homicide cases on the dark streets of downtown Riverside, using forensic tools and your own reasoning. It was released on the Meta Horizon Store on March 15, 2021.
How it plays
This Definitive Edition bundles two episodes:
- Episode One: Apartment 202. Just out of the academy, you take on your first homicide, try to outthink a killer and uncover a series of murders that go back decades.
- Episode Two: Memories Of The Past. Five years later, you face a game of cat and mouse with killers who are following you.
At crime scenes you examine, collect and process evidence to build each case. Dialogue is fully voiced in English, with subtitles in Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese and Russian. The soundtrack is by composer Michael Gordon Shapiro, and the visuals, core code and cutscenes were remastered for this edition. The developer warns that the game is challenging and does not guide you much, and offers tips on its Discord.
Comfort
You can play seated or standing, with controllers. Cases involve graphic, violent crime scenes, which matches the 18+ rating.
