Batman: Arkham Shadow

by Camouflaj

A full Arkham-series adventure made for Quest 3 and 3S: freeflow combat, stealth, gadgets and detective work as Batman in Gotham.

Batman: Arkham Shadow is an action-adventure game from Camouflaj, published by Meta's Oculus Studios. It launched on October 22, 2024, exclusively for Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S, and it is part of the Batman: Arkham series. It won Best AR/VR Game at The Game Awards 2024.

How it plays

You play as a younger Batman in first person. The game adapts the series' signature systems to VR:

  • Freeflow combat: you punch, block and counter with your own arms, chaining hits against groups of enemies.
  • Stealth: you glide, grapple between perches and take down enemies from the shadows.
  • Gadgets: batarangs, the grapnel and other tools are pulled from your belt by hand.
  • Detective work: you examine crime scenes and solve investigation puzzles.

The campaign is a full-length story rather than a short experience, set in a Gotham under threat from the Rat King.

Updates

Free updates after launch added New Game+, an Infinite Combat challenge, and in March 2025 a larger "Game of the Year" update with challenge maps, an Extreme difficulty, a permadeath New Game+ mode called "I Am the Knight" and an endless combat mode, Crane's Nightmare.

Comfort

Meta rates the game moderate. Movement, grappling and gliding involve artificial motion, but comfort settings are available. It supports seated, standing and room-scale play.

What to know before buying

  • It runs only on Quest 3 and Quest 3S; Quest 2 and Quest Pro are not supported.
  • It is sold only on the Meta Horizon Store at a list price of $49.99, with no PC or PlayStation version.
  • It is single-player, uses controllers, and is rated for teens and older for violence and language.
