Zenni MR Prescription Lenses for Meta Quest

Overview

Zenni MR Prescription Lenses are custom prescription lens inserts for Meta Quest headsets, made by the online eyewear company Zenni. Meta sells them in the US as an eVoucher in two versions, both at $49.99. One fits the Meta Quest 3. The other fits the Meta Quest 3S and the Meta Quest 2. Zenni opened pre-orders for the Quest 3 version on September 27, 2023, and the lenses went on sale on October 10, 2023, the day the Quest 3 launched.

Lens options and specs

All lenses are single vision. Meta lists clear 1.67 high-index lenses in hypoallergenic, sweat-resistant plastic frames with a matte finish and engraved L and R marks. You choose one of two coatings. Anti-fog adds fog resistance for gameplay and exercise, on top of anti-reflective and anti-scratch coatings. Oil-resistant adds fingerprint and water resistance, also on top of anti-reflective and anti-scratch coatings. Your prescription must fall within a sphere (SPH) of -10.00 to +6.00, a cylinder (CYL) of -6.00 to +6.00 and a total power of -10.00 to +6.00. The eVoucher is redeemed for two lens inserts, a lens case and a microfiber cleaning cloth.

How the eVoucher works

On Meta.com you buy an eVoucher, not the lenses themselves, and pick the coating at checkout. After the purchase, Zenni emails you a link to submit your prescription on Zenni.com. Zenni then checks that the prescription is within range, makes the lenses and ships them. Meta's help center says you have 90 days from the order confirmation to submit a prescription. If you do not, the order is canceled and refunded. You can cancel before you submit, but once the prescription is in, the order cannot be canceled, refunded or exchanged. The eVoucher is not eligible for HSA or FSA reimbursement, and Meta.com does not take vision insurance. Zenni also sells the inserts on its own site, where the Quest 3S/2 version is listed at $49.99.

Compatibility and fitting

The two versions are not interchangeable. The Quest 3 lenses fit only the Quest 3, and the Quest 3S/2 lenses fit only the Quest 3S and Quest 2. Neither is listed for the Meta Quest Pro. To fit them, you line up the L and R marks, which sit at the bottom on Quest 3 and at the top on Quest 3S and Quest 2. Then you press each insert onto the headset lens until it clicks. Afterwards you set the lens spacing with the wheel on Quest 3, or by sliding the lenses on Quest 3S and Quest 2.

Who it is for

These inserts suit glasses wearers who play often on a Quest 3, Quest 3S or Quest 2 and do not want frames inside the headset. Pick anti-fog for fitness and active games, or oil-resistant if smudges bother you more. Since the order is final once you submit your prescription, make sure you bought the version for your headset.
