Overview

The BOBOVR S3 Pro Super Strap is a third-party head strap with a battery for Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S. It replaces the headset's stock strap, moves weight off your face and adds a hot-swappable battery and a fan. BOBOVR listed it on its official store in January 2024 at $89.99, and it still sells for $89.99 in the US. BOBOVR calls it its flagship strap, for long sessions where you want the most runtime and airflow.

Design and battery

The S3 Pro uses a halo design that rests on your forehead and the back of your head, which eases pressure on your cheeks. The top strap bracket adjusts in height and can be removed, and the rear is flat so you can lean back on a sofa. A fan in the front blows air across your forehead and face. You set its speed from 1 to 100 with a dial; BOBOVR says it is quiet, with slight wind noise above about 50%. The fan turns off after 2 hours without input.

Power comes from BOBOVR's B100 battery, which clips onto the back. It holds 10,000 mAh, supports 20W fast charging and adds about 3 to 4 hours of play, depending on the app. You can swap a charged B100 in without taking the headset off. The strap beeps when the battery reaches about 15% and 10%. BOBOVR lists the weight at 547 g with the battery. The box includes the strap, one B100, a charging cable and a honeycomb pad.

Compatibility

BOBOVR lists the S3 Pro for Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S only. BOBOVR sells separate straps for Meta Quest 2. The fan needs the B100 battery to work. The B100 does not work with BOBOVR's B2 battery (used by the M3 Pro) or its BM60 battery (used by the M3 Pro+), and the straps and docks for each battery are not interchangeable.

Setup and use

If you charge the B100 while it is on the strap, it charges itself to about 80% first and then charges the headset. Quest headsets limit charging to about 80% while you wear them, but the battery keeps powering the headset. For the best results, BOBOVR suggests charging the B100 on its own with a 5V/3A charger and avoiding splitters or long cables. For storage, charge it to 60 to 80% and remove it from the strap. BOBOVR covers straps sold on its own store with an 18-month warranty.

Who it is for

The S3 Pro is for Quest 3 and 3S owners who play for hours, get hot in the headset or want to stop pressure on their face. At 547 g it is heavier than BOBOVR's E3 Pro (445 g) and M3 Pro (430 g). If you do not need the fan, the E3 Pro uses the same B100 battery. Meta's own Elite Strap with Battery is the first-party alternative.
