traVRsal is a free-roaming adventure and simulation game from Impossible Robert, published by Robert Wetzold. Instead of moving with a thumbstick, you walk with your own feet, and the levels are designed to make a living room feel like a much larger world. It has been on the Meta Horizon Store since June 4, 2021.

How it plays

traVRsal uses clever level layouts so that your real play space, small or large, maps onto bigger virtual places. The worlds keep growing, and include:

  • Procedurally generated magic dungeons with puzzles, traps and enemies.
  • Mysterious towers to climb.
  • Galleries to stroll through.

Each world has a global leaderboard if you want to compete for the top spot. The game is also built for modding: an easy world builder lets you make your own free-roaming levels and share them with other players. Supported third-party integrations include bHaptics, Unsplash, GIPHY, Ready Player Me and Meta Avatars.

Multiplayer

The store lists multiplayer and co-op modes alongside single-player, but the description does not explain how they work.

Comfort

Meta rates traVRsal as comfortable for most people, which fits a game where you move by walking. It is room-scale only, uses controllers, and needs a play space of at least 1.5 by 1.5 meters (4.9 by 4.9 feet).
