SimplePlanes VR is a flight sim where you download planes, helicopters, cars and boats from SimplePlanes.com and fly them, often from a hands-on cockpit.
SimplePlanes VR is a flight simulation game from Jundroo, LLC. It gives you a growing library of player-made crafts to download and pilot at no extra cost, from airplanes and helicopters to cars and boats, with new ones added daily. It was released on the Meta Horizon Store on December 17, 2021.
How it plays
Crafts that have a fully modeled cockpit come with virtual controls you can reach out and grip with your hands. Crafts without one still fly; you simply switch to the chase, orbit or fly-by camera instead.
- Air-to-air missiles, including the agile short-range Guardian and the long-range, fire-and-forget Interceptor
- A wide set of air-to-ground weapons, plus torpedoes for sinking ships
- Several islands and airports to explore
- Racing courses and other challenges
One thing to know up front: the VR version does not let you build aircraft. You fly designs that were made and shared on SimplePlanes.com, and the store lists an internet connection as required.
Comfort
It supports seated play and is played with controllers. As a seated flight sim, it needs no more space than a chair.
