Silent North is an open-world multiplayer VR survival shooter with action-adventure and horror elements developed by Combat Waffle Studios (the studio behind Ghosts of Tabor) and published by Beyond Frames Entertainment. Set across a frostbitten, post-apocalyptic version of the Swiss Alps, the game drops players into a harsh alpine wilderness overrun by infected creatures and rival survivors. It launched in Early Access on SteamVR and the Meta Horizon Store in April 2025.
How It Plays
Designed around open-ended PvPvE survival, Silent North challenges you to endure sub-zero mountain conditions while scavenging abandoned alpine villages and high-risk quarantined zones. Every encounter with another human player carries tension—strangers can become trusted allies or hostile bandits ready to ambush you for your backpack.
- Alpine Survival Mechanics: Manage core survival needs including body warmth, hunger, thirst, and health while navigating snowstorms, mountain passes, and lowlands.
- Scavenging & Quarantined Zones: Search villages for winter clothing, food, medical supplies, and firearms, or push into heavily contaminated quarantine zones for high-tier military loot.
- PvPvE Combat: Fight off hordes of zombie-like Infected alongside unpredictable firefights against other players across open terrain and indoor strongholds.
- Base Building & Cooking: Set up shelter, cook scavenged rations, and stash equipment to prepare for longer expeditions into the north.
Multiplayer
Silent North is an online-only multiplayer experience supporting cross-platform play between standalone Quest and PC VR players. You can roam the Alps solo as a lone wolf or group up with friends to hold territory and share resources. An active internet connection is required.
Comfort
Rated Intense for VR comfort, Silent North uses full smooth locomotion, physical weapon handling, and open-world traversal across uneven mountain terrain. It supports standing, seated, and room-scale play with tracked motion controllers. Players prone to motion sickness in VR should enable comfort turning options and start with shorter sessions.
