HIGH SEAS

A free ocean survival game for Quest where you are stranded on a stormy sea and try to hold out as long as possible against towering waves.

HIGH SEAS is a simulation game from CVR (Casual Virtual Reality) that drops you onto a violent ocean. It starts from a simple question: what would it be like to be lost at sea in VR? Your job is to last as long as you can. It is distributed through SideQuest, where it was first listed in November 2019.

How it plays

The developer frames HIGH SEAS as a test of endurance against the roughest water it could build. The listing's tags sketch the setting: storms, thunder, huge waves, icebergs and a ship caught in the middle of it all. The description does not go into detail about controls or objectives beyond survival, so expect a focused, atmospheric experience rather than a game with many systems to learn.

This is the full version of a smaller experience, High Seas Lite, which the studio also published on SideQuest. If you tried the Lite release, this one builds on the same idea.

Comfort

SideQuest rates comfort as comfortable. If moving scenery tends to bother you, our guide to motion sickness in VR has practical tips.

How to get it and what to know

  • It is free.
  • It is installed from SideQuest by sideloading; see our guide to sideloading on Meta Quest.
  • Supported headsets: Meta Quest headsets such as the Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
  • The studio's later project, Project TERMINUS, is a survival horror game set in Paris, and a playable demo of it is also on SideQuest.
  • Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 103 SideQuest users.
