A free short demo where you steer a cargo ship through a violent storm from the captain's cabin, using a rudder, throttle and compass.
High Seas Lite is a short ship-handling simulation game from CVR (Casual Virtual Reality). It is the demo version of High Seas, which is also free on SideQuest. You are alone aboard a cargo ship in a storm and need to reach an offshore station to survive. It is distributed through SideQuest, where it was first listed in October 2019.
How it plays
You stand in the captain's cabin with three tools: a rudder, a throttle lever and a compass. The sea is rough and the weather is terrible, so steering through the waves takes care. The goal is to cross uncharted waters and reach the offshore station.
The controls were designed around the Oculus Quest Touch controllers. You grab the rudder to steer and work the throttle to control speed, and the listing encourages you to shout a pirate-style "ahoy" while you do it.
A run lasts about five to ten minutes, so this is a short experience rather than a full game. The full version, High Seas, has its own SideQuest listing.
Comfort
SideQuest rates its comfort as comfortable, and the game is played with the Touch controllers.
