Epic Roller Coasters is a free VR ride simulator for Meta Quest with classic coaster rides, a target-shooting mode and lap races against friends.
Epic Roller Coasters is a simulation game from B4T Games that puts you in the front seat of virtual roller coasters, with shooter and action twists layered on top. The tracks run through places you could never ride in real life: magical lands, a valley where dinosaurs still roam, haunted sites, trips back in time, grim futures, famous architecture and fairy-tale settings. It has been on the Meta Horizon Store since May 11, 2019.
How it plays
There are three ways to ride:
- Classic: hold on and enjoy the ride, alone or with family and friends.
- Shooter: aim at targets while the cart speeds along and chase a high score.
- Race: you control the speed of the cart and try to set the fastest lap.
You can pick a virtual companion to sit next to you for a theme-park feel, and choose from different carts and weapons for the shooting and racing modes. The developer also says the game works with motion and haptic simulator rigs, which matters only if you own that kind of hardware.
Multiplayer
Friends can ride the same coasters together. In Race mode you compete to see who is fastest, while in Shooter mode you can team up and try to hit as many targets as possible between you.
Comfort
Meta rates Epic Roller Coasters as intense, which fits a game built around drops, loops and sharp turns. If you are prone to motion sickness in VR, start with short rides and stay seated. It supports sitting, standing and room-scale play, with either controllers or hand tracking.
