Digging Simulator 2020 - BETA is a free simulation game about one simple act: digging holes. It was made by Tesseract and is published under the name SAM. The game has been on the Meta Horizon Store since July 19, 2021, and as the title says, it is still labeled a beta.
How it plays
The pitch is playful. If you have ever wanted to dig a hole wherever you happen to be, without losing a rental deposit or tripping up a friend on a camping trip, this game lets you do it as often as you like. Holes are unlimited, and how good they turn out depends on your skill, strength and technique.
- Hit the terrain to dig down and explore.
- Collect treasure and unlock deeper layers underground.
- Find new tools for new kinds of holes, or power up the ones you already have.
- Your controller's speed and direction decide the shape of each hole.
A note from the developer, dated 2021, says the move to App Lab came with a project upgrade that introduced some bugs, which explains some of the lower reviews, and asks for patience while those issues are fixed. Keep in mind that this is a small beta release rather than a finished game.
Comfort
Meta has not given it a comfort rating. It is played standing or in room-scale with controllers; seated play is not listed. Since you swing your arms to dig, clear some space around you first.
