Carrier Aircraft is a VR air combat game for Meta Quest where you take off from an aircraft carrier, sink enemy warships and land back on the deck.
Carrier Aircraft is an aerial combat shooter from Fengu Studio that mixes flying action with naval warfare. It launched on the Meta Horizon Store on February 2, 2022.
How it plays
Your basic mission is to launch from a carrier, find every enemy warship and destroy it. Beyond the flying and shooting, the game has you go through the simulation-style steps of taking off from and landing on a carrier deck, which is a skill of its own. Missions mix air-to-air fights with attacks on ships, so you switch between chasing targets in the sky and lining up runs on vessels below.
There are also a number of tougher missions built around air combat and naval battles:
- Air raids
- Protecting an oil rig platform
- Breaking through a valley
- Escaping from a cave
The store description still mentions a one-week discount, so check the current price on the store before you buy. It is a single-player game and plays without an internet connection.
Comfort
Carrier Aircraft supports sitting and standing play with controllers. Flight combat involves a lot of banking and diving, so if you are prone to motion sickness in VR, start with short sessions.
