Overview
Bigscreen Beyond 2 is a PC VR headset from Bigscreen, built to be as small and light as possible. It succeeds the original Bigscreen Beyond. Bigscreen announced it on March 20, 2025 at $1,019 and opened orders right away. A circuit board design flaw delayed shipping by about three months, and deliveries began in late June 2025.
At the end of August 2026, Bigscreen changed the standard package. It now ships with a Universal-Fit Cushion, and the starting price fell to $959. The Custom-Fit Cushion, made from a 3D scan of your face, remains an optional upgrade. An eye-tracking edition, the Bigscreen Beyond 2e, is sold alongside it.
Display and optics
Two 1-inch micro-OLED panels show 2560 × 2560 pixels per eye. At 75 Hz, the PC sends the full resolution. At 90 Hz, the PC sends 1920 × 1920 per eye and the headset upscales it, which Bigscreen says slightly reduces sharpness. Bigscreen measures the field of view at 116 degrees diagonal, 108 degrees horizontal and 96 degrees vertical, which is wider than the first Beyond. Pancake lenses with new coatings reduce glare. Lens spacing moves physically from 53 to 70 mm and accommodates IPDs from 48 to 75 mm. Prescription inserts are sold separately.
Comfort and design
The headset body weighs 107 g without the strap and cushion, far lighter than typical headsets. It has no battery or onboard processor, and a thin cable carries power and video from the PC. The fitted cushion seals out light and keeps the headset steady. Bigscreen also offers an optional Halo Mount strap.
Tracking and controllers
Beyond 2 uses SteamVR Tracking, so you need at least one base station from Valve or HTC, plus SteamVR-compatible controllers such as the Valve Index controllers. None of these come in the box. There are no outward cameras, so the headset has no passthrough or hand tracking.
Software and apps
Beyond 2 is a PC-only headset that runs games through SteamVR. A Windows PC with a capable graphics card is required, and Bigscreen's utility software handles settings such as brightness and IPD.
Who it is for
Beyond 2 suits experienced PC VR users who already own base stations and controllers, or plan to buy them, and want a sharp, very light headset for long sessions. Social VR, simulation and racing players are typical buyers. People new to VR face a higher total cost and more setup than with an all-in-one headset.
