Overview

Bigscreen Beyond 2e is the eye-tracking edition of the Bigscreen Beyond 2. Bigscreen announced both models on March 20, 2025. The 2e launched at $1,219, and since the pricing change at the end of August 2026 it starts at $1,159. Apart from the eye-tracking cameras, it uses the same body, displays and lenses as the standard Beyond 2. Bigscreen also sells a VRChat Edition of the 2e.

Display and optics

Each eye has a 2560 × 2560 micro-OLED panel behind pancake lenses. The panels run at 75 Hz at full resolution, or at 90 Hz from a 1920 × 1920 signal that the headset upscales. Bigscreen gives a field of view of 116 degrees diagonal, 108 degrees horizontal and 96 degrees vertical. Lens spacing moves physically from 53 to 70 mm, and prescription inserts are available.

Comfort and design

The eye-tracking sensors add about a gram, so the headset body weighs about 108 g without strap and cushion. Like the standard model, it draws power and video from the PC over a single thin cable. It ships with a face cushion that seals out light, and an optional Halo Mount strap is available.

Tracking and controllers

Head tracking uses SteamVR base stations, which are not included, along with SteamVR-compatible controllers such as the Valve Index controllers. Small cameras inside the headset track each eye. There are no outward cameras, so the headset has no passthrough or hand tracking.

Software and apps

Games run through SteamVR on a Windows PC. Eye tracking has two main uses. In social VR apps such as VRChat, it drives avatar eye movement and blinking. Since late December 2025, Bigscreen has also offered eye-tracked foveated rendering in early access. It renders the spot you look at in full detail and the periphery at lower detail, which can improve performance in demanding games. It is switched on in the Bigscreen Beyond Utility, and supported titles include Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, DCS and iRacing. Some games need a community mod to use it.

Who it is for

Beyond 2e suits Beyond 2 buyers who spend a lot of time in social VR, or who play demanding simulators and want the performance headroom of foveated rendering. If neither applies, the standard Beyond 2 offers the same image and weight for less money.

Bigscreen Beyond 2e review: the featherweight Beyond 2, now with eye tracking

7.5/10Very good

The Beyond 2e pairs the Beyond 2's light body, sharp micro-OLED image and much-reduced glare with eye tracking that now drives VRChat avatars and early-access foveated rendering. It is a strong buy for SteamVR owners who already have base stations and controllers, but the eye-tracking features are still maturing and the full setup costs well beyond the headset price.
