CINEVR

CINEVR is a media and video app from One Digital Nation that brings a movie theater into your headset. You can watch feature films and shorter formats in 2D, 3D and 360 degrees, either on your own, with friends in a private room or at scheduled public screenings. It was released on the Meta Horizon Store on March 9, 2022.

What you can do

• Public screenings: each week four films (in 2D and 3D) are shown every evening at 9 p.m. CET.
• On-demand catalog: a library of films in 2D and 3D, many with several audio languages and subtitles.
• Image quality: the developer encodes its on-demand films itself at 1080p with a high bitrate.
• Spatial audio: every environment surrounds you with 360-degree sound, whatever the number of audio channels.
• Themed theaters: six settings including a classic cinema, a moonlit beach, a 1960s drive-in, a haunted house, a spaceship and an ancient theater.

The store text calls the on-demand films premium but does not explain how they are priced, so check inside the app before you expect the whole catalog to be included.

Multiplayer

CINEVR is listed as a multiplayer app. You can open a private room and watch a film with friends, or join other viewers at the nightly public screenings.

Comfort

Meta has not given CINEVR a comfort rating, and the store lists no play modes. The only input listed is a gamepad, which may simply be a gap in the store data.
