Rogue Ascent VR is a roguelike shooter built for Quest hand tracking: fire finger guns, block with fists and teleport by holding out your hand.
Rogue Ascent VR is a roguelike shooter from Nooner Bear Studio LLC, published by Clique Games, and it was designed around hand tracking on Quest. You fight through enemy forces using hand gestures, without needing to pick up a controller. It was released on the Meta Horizon Store on May 4, 2023.
How it plays
The control scheme is the main hook. Each action maps to a simple gesture:
- Point your fingers like a gun to shoot
- Make fists to block
- Hold a hand out to teleport
- Open and close your palm to fire abilities
- Pinch to use kiosks and menus
Between fights you pick up weapons, attachments and gadgets and combine them into a loadout, then stack abilities, perks and power-ups on top. Levels, enemy spawns, bosses and items are generated anew each time, so every run of action plays differently. A Sandbox mode adds weapon modding stations, quick-play scenarios and NPC customization, which makes it a small simulation playground for building your own runs.
Comfort
Meta gives it a moderate comfort rating, so it will not suit everyone. You can play standing or room-scale, with controllers or hand tracking. Movement uses teleporting.
