I Am Octopus is an action and adventure and simulation game developed by DavidChaseling and published by OctoKid. You wake up as an octopus held captive by the villainous Dr Docto, who appears to be using you as a test subject. It reached the Meta Horizon Store on March 27, 2026 and is in early access.

How it plays

Your goal is to escape the lab while growing stronger. Movement is driven by your arms: you pull and glide your way through water tanks and across the laboratory floor rather than walking with a thumbstick.

  • Sling yourself, leap, climb and stick to surfaces.
  • Fight, eat and use camouflage to get past threats.
  • Work through the experiments Dr Docto has prepared for you.
  • Solve puzzles and obstacles that reward trying unusual ideas with your octopus abilities.

The developer frames the puzzles as open to experimentation, so there is often more than one way through a room. It is a single-player game.

Comfort

Meta rates I Am Octopus moderate, meaning it is comfortable for some people. Arm-driven movement through 3D spaces can be hard on players prone to motion sickness, so start with short sessions. It supports seated, standing and room-scale play with controllers.
