Hockey VR is a physics-based hockey shooting game with three modes, three rinks, an AI goalie and optional support for a real-stick controller mount.
Hockey VR is a sports simulation from Melcher Studios focused on handling the puck and shooting, driven by stick and puck physics built in Unreal Engine. It has been on the Meta Horizon Store since August 5, 2021.
How it plays
- Game types: Time Trial, Limited Shots and One-Timer.
- Environments: Small Town Arena, Mountain View and Snowy Forest.
- Difficulty: shoot at an empty net, aim for corner targets or face an AI goalie that watches your every move.
- Controls: left- or right-handed stick, with one- or two-handed control schemes.
- Shot-Assist: an option to help while you practice.
- Local leaderboard: compare scores with friends on the same headset.
Melcher Studios also makes RealStick, an optional mount that attaches your controller to a real hockey stick for a more natural feel. The game supports it, but you do not need it to play. Hockey VR is single-player and works offline.
Comfort
Meta rates Hockey VR comfortable for most people. It supports standing and room-scale play with controllers. Swinging a stick, real or virtual, needs open space around you.
