Grapple Tournament is an arcade shooter with fast action from Tomorrow Games, designed for VR around vertical combat: you grapple, shoot and score. It launched on the Meta Horizon Store on August 10, 2021 and is now free-to-play.

How it plays

Movement is the core of every match. You can run, double jump, wall jump, climb and swing on a grappling hook through stylized maps that were built with height in mind, so fights happen above and below you as often as in front.

The arsenal has more than 15 weapons, among them rocket launchers, shotguns, revolvers, plasma pistols and energy rifles. Each gun can be fired one-handed, held with two hands to unlock a secondary fire mode, or dual wielded for extra damage. An energy blade and a bow are always available as a fallback. The game frames the choice as mobility versus firepower.

To warm up, there is a firing range and a set of drone challenges, and you can equip customizations before you head into a match.

Multiplayer

Matches run across several game modes, and you can fight other players or bots. Queue up alone or form a party with friends; the store lists both co-op and competitive play. The developer also runs community events through its Discord server.

Comfort

Meta rates Grapple Tournament comfortable for most people. It supports sitting, standing and room-scale play, using motion controllers. Grappling and wall jumping move you quickly through the air, so newer VR players may want to start with short sessions.
