DOWNSHOT is a free multiplayer physics sandbox from CMVR Game Studios, published by 2080 Games, with shooter and action tools mixed into an open playground. You spawn items, test what the physics can do and play on maps made by other players. The game is available on the Meta Horizon Store in early access; the store data we have does not show a release date.

How it plays

The developer lists more than 200 items you can spawn, covering weapons, vehicles, enemies, props, blocks, buildings and superpowers. There are no fixed goals, so the fun comes from this open physics simulation: combine items, set up fights or wreck whatever you build.

  • Mods: build your own maps and modes without writing any code; the developer reports 50 million mod downloads.
  • Updates: new gadgets, maps and other content are added regularly.
  • Community: a Discord server for players and modders.

Multiplayer

Single-player and multiplayer are both listed, and the store says every item and mod map can be played with others, so you can experiment alone or bring friends into the chaos.

Comfort

Meta rates DOWNSHOT as intense, meaning it is comfortable for few people. It is played standing, and it uses controllers. Vehicles, superpowers and fast action can be hard on your stomach, so check the in-game comfort settings and our guide to motion sickness in VR before long sessions.
