Overview
The Apple Vision Pro Battery is the external power pack that comes in the box with every Apple Vision Pro. Apple also sells it on its own for $199 in the US. It was listed with the first Vision Pro accessories when pre-orders opened on January 19, 2024, and the headset reached US buyers on February 2, 2024. A second battery is the simplest way to have a charged pack ready away from a wall outlet.
Design and battery
The battery has a smooth, machined aluminum shell and connects to the headset through a woven power cable. It is small enough to slip into a pocket. It has a USB-C port for charging, and Apple includes a woven USB-C cable in the box. Apple lists the battery's weight as 353 grams, separate from the headset's own weight. Apple does not publish a capacity in watt-hours or mAh on its store or specs pages.
Battery life
Run time depends on which headset you use. With the original M2 model, Apple rates the battery for up to 2 hours of general use and 2.5 hours of video playback. With the Apple Vision Pro (M5), Apple rates it for up to 2.5 hours of general use and up to 3 hours of video playback. Both models support all-day use when the battery is plugged into power, and Apple says the headset can be used while the battery charges. Apple notes that battery life depends on settings, usage, network and environmental conditions.
Compatibility
Apple's store page lists the battery as compatible with Apple Vision Pro, Apple Vision Pro (M2) and Apple Vision Pro (M5), so one battery works across both generations. It does not work with other headsets. For hands-free carrying, Apple also sells the Belkin Battery Holder for Apple Vision Pro for $49.95. It clips the battery to a belt or waistband and includes a cross-body strap.
Shipping limits
Because it is a standalone lithium-based battery, Apple says the product may only ship by ground and is subject to domestic and international shipping rules. If the delivery address cannot be reached by ground, Apple may cancel the order.
Who it is for
A spare battery suits owners who use Vision Pro for long flights, films or work sessions away from a desk, and anyone who wants a second charged pack instead of waiting for a recharge. If you mostly use the headset near an outlet, the included battery already gives all-day use when plugged in, so a second pack adds little.
