On The Morning You Wake (To the End of The World) is a media and video documentary credited to Novelab, Atlas V, Archer's Mark and published by ARTE France. It revisits a real event in Hawaii and uses it to look at the danger nuclear weapons pose to everyone. It came to the Meta Horizon Store on March 24, 2022.
What you can do
On January 13, 2018, around 1.4 million people in Hawaii got a text message from the state's Emergency Management Agency. It warned of an incoming ballistic missile, told people to find shelter right away, and stressed that it was not a test.
The piece follows the minutes after that message, when people faced questions they had never expected to ask: where they could hide, whether their towns would still exist after a nuclear strike, how to explain such a threat to their children, and why their government kept nuclear policies that put the whole planet at risk. FEMA withdrew the false alert, but the store text says life could not simply return to normal afterwards. It closes on a line from Kauai resident Cynthia Lazaroff: "Nothing happened, but everything changed."
The store page focuses on the story rather than on how you interact with it, so expect a narrative documentary rather than a game.
