INVASION! Anniversary Edition is a six-minute animated VR short where two clumsy aliens try to conquer Earth and are stopped by a pair of bunnies.
INVASION! Anniversary Edition is a media and video release from Baobab Studios: a short animated VR film for the whole family, narrated by Ethan Hawke. Two hapless aliens, Mac and Cheez, arrive on Earth expecting an easy conquest, only to be outdone by two cute bunnies. The developer calls it an Emmy winner and describes it as free. This remastered version reached the Meta Horizon Store on December 17, 2020.
What you can do
INVASION! runs about six minutes. You watch the story unfold around you rather than play a game. The anniversary edition was remastered for Quest and adds bonus content plus support for hand tracking.
According to the store text, director Eric Darnell, known for Madagascar, came up with the idea of bunnies standing up to alien invaders after seeing War of the Worlds, the 1953 film. The aliens' slapstick routine draws on Laurel and Hardy, and the story pokes fun at invaders who never plan for the smallest creatures in their way.
Because it is short and gentle, it works well as a first VR experience for kids or anyone new to headsets.
Comfort
Meta rates INVASION! Anniversary Edition as comfortable for most people. Supported play modes are sitting, standing and room-scale, and you can use controllers and hand tracking.
