Electronauts is a VR music app from Survios where you remix and perform tracks from 80-plus artists on virtual instruments, at any skill level.
Electronauts is a music-making app in the creativity and design and media and video categories from Survios. It puts you in the role of a DJ on a big festival stage and lets you shape real songs live, even if you have never made music before. It has been on the Meta Horizon Store since June 6, 2019.
What you can do
The song list has more than 80 tracks from over 80 artists, spread across EDM, hip hop, trap and many other styles. You perform on a deck of eight instruments designed for VR, and you can arrange that deck the way you like.
- Record loops and sequences on the fly.
- Stack filters on top of a track.
- Mash up songs and rearrange them into your own version.
- Rely on the Music Reality Engine, Survios' in-house system that keeps everything you play locked to the beat.
That beat-locking is the key idea. You cannot really play a wrong note, so beginners can focus on building energy and experimenting, while more confident users can spend time layering parts and planning a set. Electronauts is single-user, so the stage and the crowd are yours alone.
Comfort
Meta rates Electronauts as comfortable for most people. It supports sitting, standing and room-scale play with Touch controllers. Standing gives you the most freedom to reach across the full deck.
