Cosmic XR - Space In Your Room is a travel and exploration and learning app from BRDY Studios LLC that brings astronomy into your room through mixed reality. You reach out and handle galaxies, planets, moons and black holes with simple, hands-on controls. It launched on the Meta Horizon Store on April 21, 2025.
What you can do
The app moves from the largest scales in the universe down to single objects. Each section is a model you can walk around, grab and inspect:
- Cosmic Web: the network of filaments that forms the largest known structure in the universe.
- Laniakea Supercluster: the region, more than 500 million light-years across, that holds the Milky Way, the Local Group and the Virgo cluster.
- Milky Way: our galaxy's spiral arms and nebulas, seen from outside.
- Andromeda: the neighboring galaxy that is on course to merge with ours one day.
- Solar System: a live model in which the planets follow their orbits in real time.
- Planet details: spin Earth, look at the storms on Jupiter and examine moons such as Titan and Ganymede.
- Sagittarius A*: the supermassive black hole at the center of the galaxy, with its light-bending effects.
- Spacecraft: pick up the ISS, the Space Shuttle and Mars rovers.
Comfort
Meta rates it as comfortable for most people. It supports sitting, standing and room-scale play and works with controllers or hand tracking. Since everything appears in your own room, you can explore from a chair.
