Ultrawings 1 and 2 Return in Quest 3 Editions for $14.99 and $19.99, or $24.99 Together

Bit Planet Games has released new Quest 3 versions of both of its VR flight games, Ultrawings Remastered for $14.99 and Ultrawings 2: Gold Edition for $19.99, according to UploadVR. A bundle of both costs $24.99 on the Meta Horizon Store, where the listings show an October 28 release date and support for Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S only.

What's new

The original Ultrawings launched in 2017 and was one of the first open-world VR flight games built around a virtual stick and throttle that players grab with their hands. The remaster keeps all four planes, the Ultralight, Glider, Sport Plane and Gee Racer, and more than 200 missions. It adds a new ocean, more varied skies, enhanced haptics, a new musical score and improved lighting and shadows.

Ultrawings 2 first launched on Quest 2 in February 2022 and later came to PC VR and PlayStation VR2. The Gold Edition adds a dynamic weather system that runs from clear blue skies to lightning storms, a full day cycle, and controller haptics redesigned around Quest 3's TruTouch system. Its store listing promises more than 300 missions and over 30 hours of play.

Both new versions render at a higher native resolution and draw farther into the distance, which UploadVR notes matters in flight games where the horizon is always in view.

Price and availability

• Ultrawings Remastered: $14.99
• Ultrawings 2: Gold Edition: $19.99
• Bundle of both: $24.99, $10 less than buying them separately

UploadVR said it did not know whether owners of the original games would get an upgrade path, and Bit Planet Games has not announced one in the coverage so far.

What it means for players

The new editions are separate store listings limited to Quest 3 and 3S, so Quest 2 owners are not part of this release. For Quest 3 owners who never tried the series, the bundle is the cheapest way in. Players who already own the originals may want to wait for word on upgrade pricing before buying again.
