Cave Crave

Cave Crave is a caving simulation from 3R Games that recreates both invented and real cave systems in VR. You squeeze through tight passages and climb steep sections using physical tools and real caving techniques, alone or with friends. With story and horror modes plus a party game, it also covers adventure and social play. It launched on the Meta Horizon Store on June 26, 2025.

How it plays

The game is split into several modes:

• Story Mode: follow Jake as he retraces the route of his father, a well-known caver, and uncovers family secrets the deeper he goes.
• Tourist Mode: visit real caves built from detailed 3D scans, with commentary from people involved in actual rescues. Nutty Putty cave is narrated by Brandon Kowallis, a 2009 rescuer who first mapped it, and Thailand's Tham Luang cave by John Volanthen, a leader of the 2018 rescue team.
• Horror Mode: unpredictable caves built to play on common phobias, with psychological and environmental scares.
• Arcade Mode: timed climbing and swinging routes with leaderboards.
• Paint Cave: a party mode where players draw a phrase against the clock and vote for the best drawing.

Multiplayer

You can explore caves with up to four players in co-op, compete on the Arcade Mode leaderboards and play Paint Cave with others. The store also lists PvP and PvE modes.

Comfort

Meta rates Cave Crave as comfortable for most people. It supports seated, standing and room-scale play with controllers. Cramped tunnels and the horror mode are meant to unsettle, so players with claustrophobia should keep that in mind.
