Ruffnauts: New Frontiers

Ruffnauts: New Frontiers is a free creature-collecting game from Vinci Games that mixes action and adventure, pet-raising simulation and social play. You travel to wild planets, find creatures, hatch them from eggs and fight large bosses with friends. The game arrived on the Meta Horizon Store on August 16, 2025, and is currently running as an open beta in early access.

How it plays

The loop starts with fights against wild pets, which drop eggs. You hatch those eggs, look after the babies, feed them (tacos are on the menu) and evolve them until they are big enough to ride. The developer counts more than 150 pets and variants, from capybaras up to dragons.

• Mount types: Speedsters, Tanks and Gliders, each ridden differently, with gliders taking you into the air.
• Upgrades: fit weapons, attachments and passenger saddles to your pets.
• Cosmetics: outfits to give your own character a distinct look.
• Story hook: rescuing the galaxy's pets from the villainous Catos.

Vinci Games says new updates land every week during the beta.

Multiplayer

You can play alone, but the game is designed around crews. Lobbies hold up to 10 players, who can fight bosses, gather eggs and explore new worlds together, and a passenger saddle lets a friend ride along on your pet. The studio has a Discord server for its players.

Comfort

Meta gives Ruffnauts a moderate comfort rating. It supports standing or room-scale play, and it uses controllers. Riding fast mounts and gliding can be more intense than walking, so see our guide to motion sickness in VR if you are sensitive.
