Asgard's Wrath 2 is an action role-playing game from Sanzaru Games, published by Meta's Oculus Studios. It launched on December 15, 2023, for Meta Quest headsets and is one of the largest games made for standalone VR, with Meta describing well over 60 hours of content.
How it plays
You play as a cosmic god who takes control of mortal heroes in a mythological world inspired by Norse and Egyptian legends. The campaign switches between four playable heroes, Abraxas, Cyrene, Alvilda and Djehuty, each with their own weapons and fighting style. Five animal followers can be recruited and turned into human companions or mounts that help in combat and puzzles.
Combat is physical: you swing, block and parry with melee weapons, throw items, and use special abilities. Between fights, you explore open areas, solve environmental puzzles, and switch to a giant god's-eye view to manipulate the world.
Uncharted Rifts
A separate rogue-lite mode, Uncharted Rifts, offers procedurally generated dungeons you can enter at any point for extra rewards and replay value.
Comfort
Meta rates the game moderate. It uses smooth movement, climbing and mounted travel, with comfort options available. It supports seated, standing and room-scale play.
What to know before buying
- It is sold only on the Meta Horizon Store at $59.99 and runs on Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S and Quest Pro. There is no PC VR version.
- It is a single-player game using controllers, and the download is large, at over 30 GB.
- Meta closed Sanzaru Games in January 2026. The game remains on sale, but further updates are uncertain.
- The Meta store shows an 18+ rating for extreme violence.
