Mixed Punch Bag

Mixed Punch Bag is a free WebXR app for fitness and health from Towermax Fitness. It lets martial artists train with a real punching bag while wearing a headset, placing virtual targets on the surface of the bag. It was first listed on SideQuest in May 2020.

What you can do

You start by entering the size of your bag so the virtual version lines up with the real one. It works with a standing bag, a fixed bag, a wall-mounted bag, a plain wall or anything similar. Targets then appear for you to hit with fists and elbows, while defensive objects force you to dodge and block.

• Adjustable dimensions to match different bag types
• Targets for punches and elbow strikes
• Defensive objects for dodging and blocking
• Custom options plus ready-made programs and combinations at several difficulty levels

The app opens in the Quest browser, and the developer provides an instruction video and an about page that explain setup. Bug reports go through the developer's website.

Comfort

SideQuest rates Mixed Punch Bag as intense. The developer is clear that it is meant only for advanced martial artists, because striking real equipment while in VR can lead to injury or damaged gear. Set up the bag dimensions carefully before you start hitting.
