Blumhouse Enhanced Cinema is a media and video app for watching horror movies with added VR effects, developed by Nexus Studios and published by NBCUniversal. Well-known Blumhouse films are reworked so the scares reach out of the screen and into the space around you. It launched on the Meta Horizon Store on October 9, 2025.
What you can do
You watch the films on a screen that surrounds you, with visual effects and spatial audio meant to make the suspense feel closer. The app uses mixed reality, so some effects play out in your real room. The featured titles are:
- The Black Phone: a teenage boy taken by a killer (played by Ethan Hawke) finds a phone in his basement cell that lets him speak with earlier victims.
- M3GAN: an advanced AI doll prototype is paired with a young girl, with disastrous results.
Films are rented. A rental lasts 48 hours from the first time you start watching and covers up to three full viewings. It is tied to one user account on one headset.
