Fast Travel Games has officially released PAYDAY: Aces High, marking the first entry in Starbreeze Entertainment's heist franchise built from the ground up for virtual reality. Following its November 5, 2026 launch across Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest 3S, PC VR via SteamVR, and Valve's standalone Steam Frame, the four-player co-op shooter has kicked off with day-one subscription access, polarized store feedback, a fast turnaround patch, and a detailed post-launch roadmap.
Launch Lineup, Pricing and Meta Horizon+ Inclusion
PAYDAY: Aces High launched at $24.99 USD on the Meta Horizon Store and Steam with full cross-play across Quest and Steam headsets. On Steam, series veterans who already own a previous PAYDAY title receive a 10% loyalty discount, while Quest subscribers gained immediate day-one access through the Meta Horizon+ catalog. Players who joined October's pre-launch playtest also received their exclusive in-game Kitty Mask reward at release.
Out of the gate, the game features six playable heists—spanning banks, museums, and corporate tycoon Warren Jupiter's penthouse—alongside four distinct character classes: Mastermind, Ghost, Technician, and Enforcer. Optional cosmetic and weapon add-ons, including classic PAYDAY gang masks for Dallas, Hoxton, Chains, and Wolf as well as the AMR Classic Assault Rifle pack, also went live in Gage's Shop.
Strong VR Press Praise Meets Mixed Day-One Steam Reviews
Early critical reception from VR publications has leaned positive, though reviewers note that the spin-off streamlines several mechanics from its flat-screen predecessors:
- UploadVR praised the release as one of the year's standout multiplayer shooters, highlighting its tactile gunplay, class synergy, and the chaotic thrill of improvising with a four-player crew when stealth breaks down.
- Road to VR called the game "a card shy of a royal flush," crediting Fast Travel Games for capturing the series' signature heist energy in VR while pointing out simplified stealth systems, such as the absence of body-hiding mechanics and deep skill trees.
Player sentiment on Steam started more cautiously, settling at a "Mixed" rating (roughly 56%–57% positive) during launch week. While buyers praised the core co-op gunplay, early negative reviews centered on launch bugs, erratic security camera behavior, stiff bot pathfinding when carrying loot bags, and the initial lack of a quick way for party leaders to restart failed runs.
Hotfix 1 and the 2026 Post-Launch Roadmap
Responding to day-one feedback, Fast Travel Games deployed Hotfix 1 on November 6—just 24 hours after release—adding dedicated Restart Heist and Abandon Heist options so party leaders can reset a job immediately or bring their entire crew back to the safe house together.
Alongside the hotfix, the studio shared its post-launch schedule through the end of 2026 and confirmed that all future heists added to PAYDAY: Aces High will be free for all owners:
- November 19 — First Major Patch: Bug fixes targeting spinning security cameras, drone pathfinding, and AI teammate loot-bag handling, plus a new Haptics Intensity Slider.
- November 26 — Community Challenge #1: The first community-wide event rewarding participants with free Unique Gloves, accompanied by new Gage's Shop masks including Jupiter and Queen of Hearts.
- December 10 — Community Challenge #2: A holiday-themed community challenge offering a free festive reward.
- December 14 — Free "Coup De Grâce" Heist: The game's first post-launch heist arrives at no extra cost for all players, launching alongside the paid Bank Robber Pack weapon and mask DLC.
What It Means for Players
While PAYDAY: Aces High stumbled out of the gate with missing party controls and AI quirks, Fast Travel Games' overnight turnaround on Hotfix 1 removes one of players' biggest early pain points. Combined with cross-play, Meta Horizon+ availability on Quest, and a commitment not to split the player base behind paid map DLC, the shooter's long-term footing will now rest on November's stability patch and December's Coup De Grâce update.
