你需要准备

  • A Meta Quest headset with up-to-date software
  • A Windows PC that meets Meta's Link requirements, with the Meta Horizon Link app
  • A 5 GHz Wi-Fi router, ideally with the PC connected by Ethernet
  • Optional: a USB-C cable for comparison testing

Air Link streams PC VR games from a Windows computer to your Meta Quest over Wi-Fi, so its quality depends heavily on your home network and your PC. This guide covers the fixes Meta itself recommends for stutter, lag and blurry images: the headset's built-in connection check, router settings, Ethernet, graphics settings, drivers and bitrate tweaks. The steps follow Meta's article on troubleshooting Air Link over Wi-Fi, its Meta Horizon Link troubleshooting article and its Link and Air Link setup guide. If you have not connected your headset to a PC yet, start with our guide to playing PC VR games on Meta Quest.

1. Check your PC and software first

Wireless streaming still depends on your PC doing the rendering. Meta's minimum for Meta Horizon Link is an Intel i5-4590 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X, 8 GB of RAM, Windows 10 or 11 and a supported graphics card. Its recommended spec is an Intel i7 or AMD Ryzen 7, an Nvidia RTX 20 Series or AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series card and 16 GB of DDR4 RAM. Meta notes that the GeForce RTX 2050 is not supported.

Also make sure the Meta Horizon Link app on your PC and your headset software are both up to date. The PC must be on the same network as the headset.

Your headset has a built-in tool that shows which part of your setup is slowing Air Link down. Open the Meta Horizon Link app on your PC first.

  1. Press the Meta button on your right controller and open Quick settings. On headsets with the Navigator, Meta's setup guide calls this Quick controls.
  2. Select Link. If your computer is not listed, turn Air Link off and on again.
  3. Select your computer, then select Troubleshoot.
  4. Review the metric chart.

Each item is rated Meets Requirements, Meets Some Requirements or Missing Requirements. Meta stresses that meeting every requirement does not guarantee smooth play, because interference and network congestion can still cause problems, especially in crowded areas.

3. Use 5 GHz Wi-Fi with an 80 MHz channel

Meta says the 5 GHz band supports faster 80 MHz channels with less interference than 2.4 GHz. In your router settings:

  • Connect the headset to your 5 GHz network.
  • Set the router to use a specific channel in the 5 GHz band.
  • Lock the channel width to 80 MHz if your router allows it. Wider channels mean faster data transfer.

4. Connect your PC to the router with Ethernet

Wireless connections can interfere with each other. Meta recommends connecting your computer to the router with an Ethernet cable so only the headset uses Wi-Fi. Meta says Air Link can work with a PC on Wi-Fi, but that this is not an optimal setup. It also warns that sharing the network with all your other devices can hurt performance, especially on more complicated setups such as mesh systems.

One option you may see in older advice is the D-Link VR Air Bridge. Meta says it stopped receiving firmware updates in December 2024 and is no longer supported on any Quest headset.

5. Cut latency and improve signal strength

  • Network latency: Meta advises minimizing the number of devices between your computer and your headset and considering a dedicated router for Air Link.
  • Signal strength: move closer to the router, preferably into the same room with a clear line of sight.
  • Restart the network: for connection problems, Meta suggests restarting your router if necessary, along with your headset and PC.

6. Tune refresh rate and render resolution

Graphics preferences in the Meta Horizon Link app control how sharp and how smooth the picture looks, and Meta calls them a common cause of stuttering.

  1. Open the Meta Horizon Link app on your PC.
  2. Click Devices, then your active headset.
  3. Scroll to Graphics preferences.
  4. Adjust Refresh rate and Render resolution, then click Save.

You can choose a refresh rate of 72, 80, 90 or 120 Hz. The maximum render resolution is 5408 x 2736. Higher settings look better but can reduce performance, and Meta notes that even top graphics cards may drop frames at high settings. If you stutter, lower these first. To start over, click Graphics preferences, then Reset to default, then Save.

7. Undo bitrate tweaks from the Oculus Debug Tool

Some players change the encode bitrate in the Oculus Debug Tool. Meta's own guidance is more cautious. If you have changed settings there, such as encode bit rate, encode resolution width or pixels per display, they can still affect performance even after you change your graphics preferences. When Link is unstable, Meta recommends setting all numerical values in the Oculus Debug Tool to 0 and restarting the Meta Horizon Link app.

8. Update drivers and close background apps

For performance issues, Meta recommends updating your graphics drivers and closing unnecessary programs. Get drivers from NVIDIA or AMD directly.

Meta currently flags one exception. It has seen NVIDIA drivers from version 595.71 onwards cause Meta Horizon Link to freeze in the headset, sometimes after a few minutes and sometimes in longer sessions. Its driver article links the last working NVIDIA drivers for laptop and desktop GPUs.

Meta also suggests temporarily disabling firewall or antivirus software that may interfere with Link. If you stream with OBS or XSplit, set the CPU as the video processing device.

9. Rule out the Public Test Channel and test with a cable

If your headset is enrolled in the Public Test Channel, Meta says Link may not work, so leave the PTC while you troubleshoot. Then try a wired USB connection to see whether the problem is your network or your PC. Turn Air Link off before plugging in, because the headset can only use one connection at a time. If the cable runs smoothly and Air Link does not, focus on your Wi-Fi. For background on how this works, see our explainer on wireless PC streaming.

问题与答案

Which Wi-Fi band should I use for Air Link?

Meta recommends connecting the headset to a 5 GHz network and, if your router allows it, locking the channel width to 80 MHz on a specific channel.

Does my PC need to be on Ethernet for Air Link?

Meta recommends it. Connecting the PC to the router with an Ethernet cable means only the headset uses Wi-Fi. Air Link can work with a wireless PC, but Meta says that is not an optimal setup.

What refresh rate and resolution can I set for Air Link?

In the Meta Horizon Link app you can pick 72, 80, 90 or 120 Hz, and render resolution goes up to 5408 x 2736. Higher settings can reduce performance.

Should I raise the bitrate in the Oculus Debug Tool?

Meta warns that custom values such as encode bit rate can still affect performance. If Link is unstable, it recommends setting all numerical values in the Oculus Debug Tool to 0 and restarting the Link app.

Is the D-Link VR Air Bridge still supported?

No. Meta says it stopped receiving firmware updates in December 2024 and is no longer supported on any Quest headset.
