Polyarc's sequel to Moss: guide the mouse hero Quill through a castle of puzzles and battles while you, as the Reader, reach into the diorama-like world to help her.
Moss: Book II is a third-person action-adventure and puzzle game developed and published by Polyarc. It first came out on the original PlayStation VR on March 31, 2022, then on Quest 2 on July 21, 2022, on SteamVR on October 20, 2022, and on PlayStation VR2 on February 22, 2023. It won Best VR/AR Game at The Game Awards 2022.
Story
The game picks up right where Moss ended. Quill, a small mouse with a big sword, is hunted by a winged tyrant inside the castle where her uncle was held captive. The tale is told like a storybook, with a narrator reading between chapters, and you play the Reader, a giant presence who watches over her.
How it plays
You control Quill with the thumbstick while your own hands reach into each diorama-like room. Together you solve puzzles: you move objects, grow vine bridges and help Quill past danger, while she climbs, jumps and fights. New weapons, such as a heavy hammer that you lift and swing down, change how she attacks and open new routes. Quill also reacts to you, making eye contact and waving back when you greet her. The pace alternates between quiet puzzle rooms and short, sharp fights.
Comfort
Meta lists the game as comfortable. You look down into each scene from a fixed spot rather than moving through it, so it suits players prone to motion sickness. It can be played seated or standing.
