Photon: Immersive Media is a media and video app from Photon XR for finding and watching immersive 3D videos, with a social side built around sharing them. It arrived on the Meta Horizon Store on January 14, 2025.
What you can do
The developer says the library holds more than 100,000 immersive videos, covering travel, nature, city skylines, stage performances and plenty more.
- 8K video: much of the collection is offered in 8K and tuned for viewing in a headset.
- Immersion mode: a viewing mode meant to make you feel you are standing inside the scene.
- Personalized feed: recommendations adjust to what you watch as you explore.
- Search: look up videos by theme to find what you like.
The store page is short on detail. It does not explain how sharing works, who makes the videos, or whether any content costs extra, so expect to find out those details inside the app.
Comfort
Meta rates Photon comfortable for most people. You can watch sitting, standing or in room-scale, using controllers or hand tracking. As with any 3D video, clips with a lot of camera movement can feel more intense than still shots.
