A free single-player VR squash game for Quest with adjustable difficulty, ball weights and racquet styles, bonus targets and a meddling llama.
Squash-Up is a free sports game from GK-Software SE that brings squash to VR. It is a single-player game meant to help you work on your squash style, starting as a beginner and raising the difficulty as you improve. It was first listed on SideQuest in August 2020.
How it plays
You set up your game much as you would on a real court, choosing the ball weight and the style of racquet. From there you play for your personal best score. A troublesome llama puts obstacles in your way, and hitting bonus objects pushes your score higher.
- Several difficulty levels for beginners and better players
- A choice of ball weight and racquet style
- Bonus objects and llama-placed obstacles
- A detailed court and surroundings with objects to interact with, such as a hand sanitizer and a water dispenser for after the match
Controls use the controllers: push the left thumbstick forward to teleport, press grip to grab the ball, and use the trigger to point at menus.
Comfort
SideQuest rates Squash-Up as comfortable, and you move by teleporting rather than with smooth locomotion. It is not listed as a seated experience, and swinging a racquet needs some space around you.
