Physics Bowling is a sports game from Brastin that takes the idea of a casual bowling game and lets you roam the whole alley. The developer compares it to bowling in Wii Sports, with the difference that you can walk around and interact with nearly everything in the building. It is distributed through SideQuest, where it was first listed in January 2020.

How it plays

Bowling works as you would expect: grab a ball, roll it down any lane and the game keeps score. Version 1.3 added bug fixes and a scoring demo on the first lane. Outside the lanes, the building doubles as a physics playground. You can order a meal at the food area, play an arcade machine or throw a chair at the staff, and, as the listing summary puts it, almost anything else can stand in for a ball.

The developer says everything in the game was made from scratch rather than assembled from bought assets.

Comfort

SideQuest rates comfort as comfortable. You move with the left thumbstick, turn with the right thumbstick and pick things up with the grip button on your controllers.

How to get it and what to know

  • It is free.
  • It is installed from SideQuest by sideloading; see our guide to sideloading on Meta Quest.
  • Supported headsets: Meta Quest headsets such as the Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
  • The game is still being ported to VR. At the time of the listing the scoreboard did not show in VR because it is drawn in the UI layer, and the developer says the VR version will be refined over time.
  • Rated 3.4 out of 5 by 25 SideQuest users.
