V-Speedway is an arcade racing game for Meta Quest where you drive a small city with a working virtual wheel, shifter and handbrake in races and time trials.
V-Speedway is an arcade racing game from Commuter Games that sits between sports and simulation. It is built as an easy way into VR driving: the car controls are fully virtual, the physics stay simple, and the feature list sticks to the essentials. It launched on the Meta Horizon Store on March 10, 2021.
How it plays
You drive around a compact city whose streets are arranged into several track layouts. Inside the car, the steering wheel, handbrake, gear shifter and mirrors all work, and you operate them with your hands through the controllers. Driving feedback is pitched as lively rather than strict, so it suits players who want to race without learning a full sim.
- Single Race, Time Attack and Free Ride modes
- Online leaderboards for comparing times with other players
- A choice of left-side or right-side driving
- Support for bHaptics haptic gear
Comfort
Meta gives it a moderate comfort rating. V-Speedway is designed for seated play with controllers. The game includes plenty of settings and comfort options, which helps if driving in VR is new to you.
