Descent Alps

Descent Alps is a skiing game that blends rhythm, simulation and sports, made by Sutur and published by Things3D. You steer down steep slopes with full-body motion, and the course itself follows the beat of the soundtrack. It came to the Meta Horizon Store on April 26, 2021.

How it plays

There are no stick controls for steering. You lean your body into tight turns and crouch down when you need to carve your skis hard enough to make the next gate. Each run is generated at random from the music, so moving in time with the soundtrack helps you ski better and earn higher scores.

The developer says the link between music and course is also meant to make the skiing feel smoother and more natural. It adds that an earlier demo version passed 60,000 downloads and that the full game was tuned with that feedback, aiming to suit experienced skiers, regular gamers and people who have never tried either.

Comfort

Meta has not published a comfort rating for Descent Alps. The game is played standing, with controllers, and asks you to lean and crouch a lot, so give yourself some room and a stable footing. Fast downhill motion can bother some people; our guide to motion sickness in VR has tips if it does.
