Race For Fun is an early access VR racing game built around time attack, where you pick from 10 cars and chase the best lap times on varied tracks.
Race For Fun is an arcade racing game from Kaplunov Yurii, published by Raptor`s Games, that mixes sports, simulation and action. The core mode is time attack: you drive laps as fast as you can and compete with other players for the best time. It arrived on the Meta Horizon Store on July 8, 2021, and is still in early access.
How it plays
- Ten cars, each with its own characteristics.
- Tracks at different difficulty levels; the developer lists ten, with eight available so far.
- Realistic car handling with first- and third-person views.
The developer says it suits beginners and experienced drivers alike. Updates since launch have added free-ride tracks with traffic, including one in the suburbs, extra cars, improved car sound and reworked controls. You can now choose automatic or manual transmission, adjust your seat and see a steering wheel in third-person view. The developer notes that version 0.93 was the last update for the original Oculus Quest.
Comfort
Meta gives it a moderate comfort rating, so it suits some players more than others. It supports seated play and is played with Touch controllers. Driving in VR can trigger motion sickness in some players, so start with short sessions.
