Surgineer is a comedy simulation game from Holonautic that makes no claim to realism: the developer openly says you will not learn real surgery here. You play a terrible doctor working through absurd operations. It came to the Meta Horizon Store on October 27, 2022.
How it plays
Procedures range from CPR to brain transplants and removing alien eggs from a patient with a robotic arm. Your hands interact with physics, so you cut, dig and pull directly rather than pressing buttons.
- A large toolset: scalpels, knives, syringes, drills, saws, rubber ducks and more.
- A defibrillator, plus an axe and hammer for opening chests and skulls.
- Organ, limb and even head transplants.
- Futuristic lasers and telekinetic forceps.
- A surgical robot arm for precision work, at least in theory.
- The option to slap a patient with a fish.
The humor is slapstick, but the operations are graphic, which is reflected in the 18+ age rating. It is a single-player game.
Comfort
Meta rates Surgineer comfortable for most people. It supports seated, standing and room-scale play with controllers or hand tracking. The store listing also carries Meta's mixed reality safety notice, so keep your play area free of obstacles.
