The zenith vr shutdown will take Zenith offline permanently on Friday, December 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM Pacific. Ramen VR’s VR MMO runs on Quest and PC VR, and existing players can continue playing until servers close.
Zenith shutdown timeline
- October 21, 2026: sales of paid Zenith: The Last City content and the Zennies premium currency ended on all platforms.
- November 18, 2026: new players lose access to downloads for the free version, Zenith: Nexus.
- December 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM PT: servers close, and the game becomes unplayable.
Existing players can keep downloading and playing until December 18. Ramen VR has said it will not create an offline version or support community-run servers. After the closure, the game will not be playable in any form, and players should spend any remaining Zennies before that date.
Update (2026-10-31): UploadVR reports that Zenith: The Last City received a permanent price cut from $29.99 to $9.99, and that its final update shipped in August 2024. VR.org News reports that Zenith launched on January 27, 2022, and that Season 4: Golden Isles, released August 27, 2024, was its final content update. VR.org News also reports that Ramen VR ended active player support in September 2024.
How Zenith reached closure
Zenith: The Last City launched in 2022 as a paid game on Quest and Steam. It drew hundreds of thousands of players and helped Ramen VR raise tens of millions in funding.
Player numbers fell over time. Ramen VR moved the game to a free-to-play model and turned The Last City into paid add-on content. The studio stopped making new content in July 2024, while its final content update, Season 4: Golden Isles, arrived on August 27, 2024. Its stated reason for closing is that too few players remained to cover the cost of running the service.
What players can do before closure
If you own Zenith through the Meta Horizon Store or Steam, you have until December 18 to play. Any Zennies still held should be spent before servers close.
Newcomers who want to try the free version must download Zenith: Nexus by November 18. The shutdown shows the risk of online-only VR games: when servers end, access to the game and its purchases ends with them.
